Dormer Re-cladding and Roof Repair in Millhouse Green, Penistone
The interior of this dormer was prone to severe water ingress during bad weather and as a result there was considerable damage and dampness inside.
The cladding had not been maintained for at least 40 years and was in urgent need of replacement.
The roof tiles were also weather damaged and were repaired where necessary.
Since the job was carried out all the issues have been addressed and the customer is very happy with the results.
Summary of job and materials used
- Erected scaffolding to front and gable end of property in strict compliance with Health & Safety.
- Carefully removed water tables from front of property*
- Removed ridge tiles*
- Stripped off all slates from front roof elevations, including front dormer*
- Carefully remove old, damages and leaking timber cladding from front dormer**
- Removed existing, damaged timber laths**
- Carried out necessary preparation to rafters
- Introduced fully breathable felt, secured as required
- Introduced new 2” x 1″ timber treated laths secured with galvanised nails
- Reinstated slates with copper nails
- Reinstated ridge tiles bedded on suitable cement mix
- Introduced new lead soakers to roof/dormer cheek abutments, suitable secured and dressed
- Reinstated slates to dormer roof incorporating an easy roofing system, as recommended
- Introduced new PVCu cladding to dormer cheeks; secured as required
- Introduced new PCVu fascia boards and barge boards; secured as required
- Introduced new gutter system to dormer
- Introduced new fall pipe routed to main roof; secured as required
- Cleaned out guttering adjacent to working area
- Dismantled scaffolding and cleared all rubbish from site**
