YMCA re-roofing in Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Roof Repair of the YMCA in Barnsley

The YMCA has an asphalt roof that covers the whole of the building and the asphalt was cracked in places and was leaking into the main building.

We carried out the flowing and repaired all the cracks and felt over the roof area.

We started with repairs to asphalt and then then bitumen-primed the complete area in preparation for new material.

A 4mm bitumen vapour barrier underlay was applied, adhered over the original roof. We then applied a 4mm bitumen mineral top layer

We also installed all preformed side trims to the top of parapet walls then introduced lead cover flashing to the inner walls where the bottom tier flat roof abutted the second flat roof which stepped up by approximately 5 feet.

Rainwater outlets were also introduced — we cut out a square to allow us to countersink the timber and then put a extended outlet that was inserted into a rainwater pipe within the roof void.

A full wraparound scaffold and fully netted scaffolding was erected to comply with both health and safety and highways regulations.

The total job took 6 weeks.
